This delicious pie makes the whole house smell wonderful while it bakes.
Stockman’s Steakhouse Old-fashioned Buttermilk Pie
- 9 eggs
- 3 sticks butter (melted)
- 3 teaspoons vanilla
- dash of salt
- 4 1/2 cups sugar*
- 9 tablespoons flour
- 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
- 3/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 unbaked pie crusts (deep dish)
-
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
-
Lightly beat eggs. Into the same bowl, add butter, vanilla, salt, sugar, flour, buttermilk and nutmeg. Pour into pie crusts.
-
Bake pies for 10 minutes. Lower oven temp to 350 degrees. Continue baking until the tops are golden and firm, about 1 hour.
*I think these pies were too sweet. I would cut back on the sugar at least 1 cup, to 3-1/2 cups.
