Stockman’s Steakhouse Old-Fashioned Buttermilk Pie

This delicious pie makes the whole house smell wonderful while it bakes.

Stockman’s Steakhouse Old-fashioned Buttermilk Pie

  • 9 eggs
  • 3 sticks butter (melted)
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla
  • dash of salt
  • 4 1/2 cups sugar*
  • 9 tablespoons flour
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 3/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 unbaked pie crusts (deep dish)
  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

  2. Lightly beat eggs. Into the same bowl, add butter, vanilla, salt, sugar, flour, buttermilk and nutmeg. Pour into pie crusts.

  3. Bake pies for 10 minutes. Lower oven temp to 350 degrees. Continue baking until the tops are golden and firm,  about 1 hour.

*I think these pies were too sweet. I would cut back on the sugar at least 1 cup, to 3-1/2 cups.
