The original banana split cost only 10 cents. They’re certainly more than that now, but you can’t put a value on the joy they bring.
- 2 ripe bananas
- ice cream traditionally vannilla, strawberry, and chocolate
- chocolate sauce
- caramel sauce
- whipped cream
- nuts chopped
- maraschino cherries
Peel bananas and split in half lengthwise. Place two halves in a long dish, and add three scoops of ice cream in between the banana halves. (Jeff requests that the chocolate ice cream be placed as far away from his beloved vanilla as possible.)
Top with sauces of choice, whipped cream, cherries and chopped nuts.
