Coney Dogs with Grandpa's Classic Coney Sauce
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 cup onion (chopped)
- 1-1/2 cups ketchup
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- 1/4 cup prepared yellow mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
- 3/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- hot dogs
- buns
- shredded cheese

In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and 1/2 cup of the onion. Break apart the beef until it is in small crumbles, then drain.

Transfer to a slow cooker and add ketchup, sugar, vinegar and mustard. Stir, then add the celery seed, Worcestershire sauce, pepper and salt. Stir again, and simmer on low for two to three hours.

Cook or grill the hot dogs. Serve on buns topped with sauce, the remaining chopped onions and the shredded cheese.
