Oozing cheese from the middle of a burger, these are like the Jucy Lucy’s from Matt’s Bar in Minneapolis.
Jucy Lucy Cheeseburgers
- 2 pounds ground beef (chilled)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 4 ounces American cheese (cut to roughly 1 inch squares)
- kosher salt
- ground black pepper
-
Fire up your outdoor grill, or preheat a cast iron skillet on the stovetop.
-
In a large bowl, mix beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt, and pepper. Divide the mixture into eight even portions. Shape each into a thin, round patty.
-
Stack four of the cheese squares ontop of each other. Put one stack ontop of each of four patties. Top with the second patty, and tightly crimp the edges. If the burgers aren’t sealed completely, steam could cause the burgers to burst!
-
Cook burgers over medium heat three to four minutes on first side. Turn burgers and continue to cook for three to four minutes. Use a toothpick to prick top of burger so that steam can escape.
-
Remove from grill or skillet and allow to rest for two to three minutes. Place burgers on buns, add your favorite condiments, and enjoy!
