Hot Dish

Customize this classic side dish with any meat, vegetable and starch.

Minnesota Hot Dish

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 package frozen tater tots (you probably won't use the whole package, but this is usually the smallest size I can find)
  • 2 10-ounce cans condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 2 cans vegetables (green beans, corn, peas, whatever you like)
  • 4 ounces cheddar cheese (shredded)
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Brown the ground beef and drain the fat.

  3. Grease a 2-1/2 quart dish, and add beef.

  4. Drain liquid from canned vegetables, then spread over the meat.

  5. Spread soup over the vegetables; do not add water or milk. Use soup in concentrated form.

  6. Top with tater tots.

  7. Bake, uncovered, 50 minutes.

  8. Serve topped with shredded cheddar cheese.

Note: You can substitute a bag of frozen vegetables for the canned.
