A splash of Vernors makes this a motor-city version of an old fashioned.
Detroit Old Fashioned
- 2 teaspoons simple syrup
- 3 dashes Angostura bitters
- 2 orange wheel
- 2 maraschino cherries
- 4 ounces bourbon or rye
- 4 ounces Vernors

In two old-fashioned glasses, split the simple syrup and bitters. Fill the glasses with ice, add the whiskey/rye and Vernors. Garnish with orange wheels and cherries.
